“It’s great for the Mecca Bah kitchen team to work together and give to people in need. We really do look forward to helping out every year.” Justin Cortellino, Head Chef
Regular volunteers for this annual event contribute their time by driving guests from the Salvation Army on Bourke Street to Mecca Bah, and spending time speaking with those in need of a listening ear. Brodie Holland (retired Collingwood player) and Melbourne's new Lord Mayor Robert Doyle have both supported the Salvos Christmas Brunch for several years.

"dine out… help out" from 10th November to 24th December 2008
For the six weeks in the lead-up to Christmas, StreetSmart partners with restaurants including Mecca Bah to ask diners to make a small donation to StreetSmart on their bill. |
update 19 Dec 08 - OVER $4,000 RAISED SO FAR!
Every table is asked to add $2 or more to their bill, not even the price of a coffee or mineral water. It’s a simple idea that adds up to a big impact on the lives of people who are homeless.
So when you are planning a night out think about taking a simple action and book at a StreetSmart participating restaurant. While you are there encourage your fellow diners to dig deep and leave your donation on your bill. Be it meeting up with friends, family or an office or business function we need you to get involved.
100% of your donation goes to work:
StreetSmart operational expenses are funded through sponsorship partners allowing us to guarantee to the community that 100% of your donations are distributed directly to charity recipients.
RESULTS in 2007 diners at 185 restaurants raised $224,000 in Victoria, NSW/ACT and Queensland.
